The Boxer is one of the happiest dog breeds around. They are fun loving, affectionate, silly, intelligent, athletic and extremely
loyal to their family members. The Boxer has a spirit that is larger than life itself, they are unlike any other breed. Often described as the "clown" of the dog community, Boxers are in a class of their own. Those who own a Boxer can attest to
their unique characteristics. This breed can be occasionally stubborn, but when properly exercised physically and mentally,
you will not find a better companion. As well as being an ideal companion, Boxers are excellent guard dogs. They are naturally
protective of the ones they love and make great family members when properly trained.
The Boxer is a high energy breed and with their occasional stubbornness, they require daily exercise, play sessions and training session to expend their energy. One thing to keep in mind if you’re thinking of getting a boxer is that they demand an enormous amount of attention, patience and love.
If you are willing to dedicate a lot of energy to laughing, playing and a little cleaning
(yes, it's true, they are messy eaters and produce what we call “Boxer Art” on the walls of your home (slobber) then a Boxer is the
perfect dog for you! We can promise you that whatever boxer characteristics you run across, they will be charming.
If
any of the characteristics below are not appealing to you, then the Boxer is NOT the right breed for you.
-Snore loudly with their
eyes wide open
-Pass horrific gas (and act just as surprised as you!)
-Love to give wet sloppy kisses and jump up to greet you
-Hop
around like bunnies only to stop, look behind them and resume hopping
-Shadow box by moving front paws up and down in a fighter's
"jab-like" motion
-Fall over completely when you rub the ears for more than a few seconds
-Insist on lying on top (not next) to whomever (human or animal) is around
