What can we say about Aliyah, but we have been blessed with being chosen to foster her. She is so well-behaved and really took to us almost immediately. She had already gotten attached to the Boxer Rescuers who brought her to us, as she ran to the door when they left and cried a bit, but seemed to realize that she was to stay with us, for a while, anyway. She gave my son a big kiss, but turns out not to be too much of a “kissy” dog. She “eats up” loving attention, enjoys her walks, however, she does not like the cold and rain (of course!). We have bought her a blanket coat to keep her warmer. In the mornings we’d find her sleeping on the sofa until we placed her cozy bed in the dining area behind the table where we’ve moved our laptops to keep her company. She loves the bed, however she moves around and sleeps on other “beds” wherever we are - kitchen, living room, dining area.
The CAT and Aliyah: unfortunately our adopted adult female cat has not accepted Aliyah here, as yet. But Aliyah would love to play with her. We keep them separate, but there are times when the cat comes downstairs to see what’s going on, however doesn’t go beyond the barrier that blocks Aliyah’s access to the stairs. Aliyah shows typical doggie signs of invitation to play with no luck at the cat’s accepting. Her first car ride was yesterday, when we went to Tufts Vet School for a walk. She rode so-o-o nicely, either sitting or lying down...absolutely no jumping around. I had to look back at times to check if she was still with me!! Unfortunately, the field was closed off, so we meandered around the grounds for a short while, then went to the store. During my walks with Aliyah in the woods, she has shown raised hair on her back while someone is walking by, so She is protective and needs to know when it is okay.
What a wonderful Christmas present to have Aliyah here with us! There is no better gift anyone could give us!!

Aliyah made it to her foster him today and is doing great. She is the sweetest girl! She loves to go for rides and acts like a perfect lady in the car, and she takes treats very gentle and sweet. Once she settles in at her foster home, she will be going to our vet for her spay, so please check back soon for more updated as we get to know Aliyah a little better.

Aliyah is doing well. She has been getting along outside the home with the bull dog she lives with, but inside the home she does not do well with him, unless the owner is not around. When the owner is not around, Aliyha will play with the bull dog. She is protective of the owner with the bull dog around, but he is the father to her last litter and is NOT neutered. She loves to snuggle on the couch under blankets with the children in the home, has great re-call and stays right in the yard when outside. Her pups have still been around her and we feel that she needs to get out of that situation so she can resume being a dog and not a "mother". She is currently living with children that our 7 and 13 years old and Alyiyah is great with both of them.
October 4, 2010 - This is Aliyah, a beautiful fawn female Boxer. Aliyah has had a very tough life, as she has been bred 3 times (that we know of) and been through 3 different homes in her very short life. Because of her many litters she still holds a strong motherly instinct and has become very protective of her pups and home and thinks she needs to be the protector. She is friendly with strangers, however, unsure of dogs when they enter her space. Because of this we feel it is best to place Aliyah into a home with no dogs and with older children so she will receive the attention she needs to be taught how to just “be a dog”. Aliyah will need a gentle but stern person that will allow her some time to figure out her place and to help her understand that she no longer has to be in the "motherly role" of being the protector and care taker. This will also help to socialize her. She knows her basic commands; sit, down, and off. Now that Aliyah is in rescue her only job is to be a happy-go-lucky dog! Please help Aliyah, as she deserves to receive as much love and care as possible.
