Most rescue dogs have had a very tough time. At the minimum, they have been rejected by a family they once loved and protected. At TBRI, we will do our best to make sure that these dogs spend the rest of their lives in a loving home with a family that will provide them with appropriate medical care, attention, training and most importantly, the love they deserve.

At TBRI, we feel that there is no such thing as being too careful in the adoption process. Our goal is to place every one of our Boxers in a home that is committed to loving and nurturing them during their transition period and for the rest of their lives.

All of our dogs are current on all vaccines including Bordatella (for kennel cough) and Rabies.  Each has been examined by a veterinarian and those not on heartworm treatment receive monthly heartworm preventative.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.  If surgery is prevented by a medical condition, a  timely spay or neuter surgery will be a requirement of the adoption contract and proof of spay or neuter must be provided to The Boxer Rescue.

The adoption donation for all of our Boxers is $350.00.  The adoption donation for a senior or “silver” boxer is $250.00.  For puppies that are too young to be spayed or neutered, we require a $100.00 deposit at the time of adoption.  This deposit is refunded back once we receive proof that the dog was spayed or neutered.

You can be completely confident that here at TBRI, we have gotten to know our dogs through the foster families that take them in.  Our foster families give us all of the information we need in order for us to determine what type of family is the most compatible for each dog.  Our first priority is to the dogs in our rescue.  Our goal is to place each dog into the best home for him or her.  We are their voice and guardian.  Adoptions only take place after our entire adoption process is complete.

While the adoption process may take some time, please remember, it is a very short time compared to the relationship you will build with your adopted dog and the amount of love you and your adopted Boxer will receive when you “find each other”.

Once we receive your Adoption Application, you will be notified by e-mail or phone that your application has been received.  If you have submitted an application and do not receive an initial confirmation within 48 hours, please contact us adoption@theboxxerrescue.org or call us at 800-471-2030.

Once the application is received, the Directors will begin to match you and your family with one of our available dogs (we will take into consideration your request for a specific dog).  Once we feel we have a match, we will contact you to discuss the match.  Once you and the Directors have agreed upon the “right” match for you and your family, the process will begin.

** Please remember that we do not have a facility where you can actually go to meet our dogs. We will do our best in matching you with a dog (s) that will be a great companion and you will have the opportunity to meet the dog you are matched to prior to adopting it and to speak directly to the foster family.

The first step in the adoption process is a phone call from one of our volunteers.  They will call you and conduct a telephone interview with you to review your application and answer any questions you may have.  The volunteer will then check all of your references.   Once this step is completed and you are approved for the next step, you will receive a call from another one of our volunteers to schedule a home visit. This gives us a chance to meet with you and your family and determine if in fact your home is “right” for one of our Boxers.  We require that all family members be present during the home visit so we can all get a feel for the environment in its entirety; all adults, kids, and pets.

Once the home visit is completed, we will contact you and let you know if you are an “Approved Home”.   If you are approved, we will begin the process of getting you in touch with the foster family that has the Boxer dog that you have been matched with.    Your phone number will be given to the foster family and they will contact you.  At that time, you and the foster family can discuss the particulars of the dog.  Please ask any and all questions you have.  There is no better source than the foster family to find out information about the dog you have been matched with and to confirm that you are a good match for the dog.  After the telephone call, you and the foster family will set a time and place for you to meet the dog.  If all goes well at the meeting, you will take the dog home with you at that time.  The foster family will bring any belongings they have for the dog.   You and your new family member will live happily ever after!

If you are interested in adopting one of our boxers, please click here to proceed to the application page.

**If you have previously adopted from  The Boxer Rescue, Inc., you do not need to fill out a new application.  We do request that you fill out an updated adoption form.  Please contact us at adoption@theboxerrescue.org for the updated adoption form.

If you have any questions about our organization or the adoption process, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at adoption@theboxerrescue.org or call 800-471-2030.

Note: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older

Anyone filling out an application that is living with their parents will need parental permission and we must be able to speak with your parents.

The Boxer Rescue, Inc. operates in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Thank You for your interest in adopting a Boxer!

Remember….It’s all about the Dogs!

The final step in rescue effort is to find our Boxers their “forever” homes.  Could you be the next forever home for one of our Boxers?  Adopting a rescue dog is both rewarding and admirable.  These dogs were given up for various reasons and the people that touch their lives from the moment they are surrendered play a huge role in giving them the best chance for a great life, the life they deserve!
