Meet Freddie!  Freddie is coming into the program because his family is moving to Israel and they are unable to take him on the move.  Freddy is a VERY friendly boxer.  A real Love Bug!!  He knows his commands in English and German as well as hand signals.  He currently lives with a female German Shepherd and they get along great.  He is use to a fenced in yard and as not been exercised regularly, so he is a little over weight, but with a good diet and regular exercise, we are confident he will get back into shape quickly. Freddie is beautifully crate trained; he will go in just by asking him to do so.  He is fed in his crate as well because he will try and eat the other dog’s food in addition to his own.  Although he is crate trained, he also does well left alone in the home.    Freddie is a bit of a "counter surfer", so he will need to be worked with on this.   He is currently being treatment for whip worm and will need another treatment in December. Freddy will be heading to his foster home soon, so please check back for updated as we get to know him better.

Fred and Puzzle very nicely cheered me in from my 160 mile bike ride to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!  We raised $137,000!  Our “au pere” insisted they have team shirts – and they had a blast meeting people and licking all the sweaty legs and arms they could find.  Everyone was AMAZED at how well behaved they were, and the fact that they had their own water bottles.

Hi everyone it’s me, Freddie.  My Foster parents call me “Fabulous Fred”.  It's been little over a week now and I've just about got these foster-folks trained. They have given me full house privileges based upon my stellar behavior. However, I don't sleep in bed with themI am very content to sleep beside the bed on my own comfy dog beg. The "mom" often covers me up with a little blanket because she thinks I might get cold. Don't tell her, but by the middle of the night, I usually push the covers off.

I don't know who told you I like to be fed in my crate, because I actually don't seem to mind where I eat... as long as I eat. Of course, I am told to keep away from Rocco's and Ava's dishes when we all eat... and 99.9% of the time, I listen. Just seems they eat awfully slowly and I'm always done with my food before they are. Because I am a bit chubby, I think I do best with structured feedings. Breakfast and Dinner rule! I love treats, but can be a little picky... I'm not quite used to the large variety of treats these people offer. I do love chicken strips and Texas taffy and anything with bully in the title... lamb lungs are great too... if you have never tried them, they’re awesome.

Exercise. A concept I'm getting used to, particularly since these folkshave a dog door and fenced in yard. Me and Ava and Rocco go in and out at will and run around like nuts up and down the hill. When we get tired, we come back in the house. If you don't have a dog door, that's okay too. I'm good about going to the door when I need to relieve myself (did I tell you I am an exceptionally hydrated boxer? I love water and the "mom" thinks I drink at least a half a gallon a day). We've gone on lots of walks and while I do like to stop and sniff, I don't pull and am very obedient to my humans.

While I may counter-surf if given the right incentive (like food being left unattended on the counter... who wouldn't, right?), I am very courteous and respectful of property.

I love my people... correction... I love all people. I am skilled in the art of cuddling. I have a thing "mom" digs, when I cuddle and she cuddles back... I snort like a pig. She snorts back... we can go on and on. She has learned my language somewhat. She thinks my snorting means I'm happy because I do it when we go for walks and I sniff and snort at the same time. Riding in the car is cool too. I get along really well with Ava and Rocco and they share their spaces with me. A couple of times I have growled at Rocco - but its only because I am still a new guy here and don't quite want to share the people with him. They corrected me and tell me there's enough love to go around -- and everything is good.

One thing they told me you need to know if you want me to be your Forever Fred. Be prepared for some auspicious gas. It could be the weight management food I have started... or it could be I'm so relaxed here that I don't feel the need to hold it in or make it smell pretty. I can clear a room (but don't because they're used to the boxer fresh scents). I think once my body gets used to a certain food, the gas will subside a bit. We Boxers can have delicate stomachs that don't quite agree with our desire to eat everything. Another thing is that my jaw doesn't quite line up  correctly so sometimes I look like I am snarling, when in fact it's just that my tooth gets stuck over my lip. It doesn't happen all the time, but it makes them laugh so I try to do it for photos and stuff.

Leaving this family may be difficult, but it's been explained to me that they are just looking for the perfect parents and family.  People that are willing to put the time in to work with me so that I can be a better Boxer. People that are willing to feed me properly so that I can be a healthy Boxer and people that are willing to show love and affection so that I can be a true Forever Fred.
