"China" has a wonderful new home in Boston and Cape Cod. Due to her wonderful care through Boxer Rescue and her foster home a once shy girl is now an outgoing part of a large dog community. Alert, active and healthyshe's found a new home full of love. She looks forward to swimming, laying under cool lilac bushes in the yard and chasing flies that buzz around her head this summer. She is very loved by her adopted daddies.

China's diet was keeping her from gaining weight as fast as she could have, so we have made some adjustments to her diet and she has gained wieght!  She is now up to 56lbs.   Sometimes doorways are still a challenge. If it is her decision to go through a doorway, there is no problem (like chasing a toy, getting a treat...).  There was a time when China would not come in the kitchen to eat without lots of encouragement, but now she comes and goes with only a little hesitation.  China has free reign of the house, but elects to stay in the family room and kitchen/entry way area (which is where we are most of the time).  China loves to be with me outside and during our walks I have consistently reinforced the behavior that when a car comes, we get off the road and stop until the coast is clear.  This has helped China respect cars, and also removed most of her fear/panic whenever a car comes by.  The school bus is still a little intimidating, but overall she is now very comfortable walking on the road.  With regards to riding in the truck, she seems to enjoy the rides and is easy to get in and out of the vehicle.  Yesterday I was cleaning the truck, so she hopped in and didn't want to get out.  She is also a very good back seat rider in the car.   When we have a delivery truck, meter reader or new vehicle in the driveway, she is very curious about who might be inside and she is very friendly to strangers.

China has come a long way and is doing well in her foster home.   She is still getting use to new noises and different thing inside the home and she seems to be a bit nervous when going through doorways, but we are working on that with her.  As China seems not to have had much time indoors, these new things will need to be taken slowly, so she can build her confidence and feel secure.   China loves being around her "pack", she is able to handle being alone very well (no destructive behavior or getting into mischief).

China is also crate trained and at times she still finds comfort and security in her crate.

She is very good with her "sit" and "down" command and when we go outside I have her sit to get her jacket, collar, harness, or leash on.  She also sits before I open the door to go outside, all of which are hard for her because she gets so excited.  She is very good with the "come" command, which she does better outside than inside (no doorways).  The last thing we do outside before we go home is stand on a large rock in the field.  When I point to the rock, she will go as fast as she can to the top of the rock (just a fun trick we play together).

China continues to make progress in her foster home.  Her house training is coming along beautifully!  She is consistently doing her business outside on a routine schedule.  Each day, she is becoming a bit more confident with herself and her surroundings.  When she meets new people or dogs, she is curious, but every bit a lady.  The only time she has barked was while she was dreaming.  She is very gentle when on a walk, and frequently checks in for direction.  China is a very special girl that just needs time and patience to learn how to be a dog again.

China is settling in very slowly.  The house training is a very slow process with, China.  She is still unsure of things and is still a little nervous.  We are working with China on her house training and trying to work with her on her confidence.

China arrived at her foster home yesterday.  China is very insecure and unsure of everything right now, so it will take sometime for her to settle in.  She is very curious and everything she encounters seems to be a new experience for her.  She is not house broken, so her foster home will be working on this with her and she does not seem to know any basic commands.  Please check back soon as we get to know this beautiful girl.

Meet China, our newest Boxer girl.  China is 5 years old and has had a “ruff” life so far.   She has been used as a breeding dog her whole life.    She’s very sweet and just a little bit shy.   China is on the thin side so we will be looking to put a few pounds on her.  China will need to learn her basic commands as it appears no one has ever taught them to her.  She’ll be a quick learner though.  She will also need some help with housetraining.   China seems very willing to please.  China lived with several other dogs and seems to get along with other dogs well.   We will be looking to place China in a home with or without other dogs and with children over the age of 12.

China gave birth a few weeks ago to a litter of still born pups.  She will be getting her spay surgery as soon as she is cleared to do so by our vet.  Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet little girl.

China loves people, even people she meets for the first time.  I have seen some timid dogs that are very shy when meeting new people, but this is not the case with China. China is also good with other dogs. She has had a few play dates and has done well.   New noises startle her, but she seems to be adjusting to the noises in her current surrounding.  She is getting comfortable riding in the car and truck.

China seems as though she previously spent most of her time in a minimally active environment; we have been keeping her active and mentally stimulated.  China was very thin when she came to our home.  She now weighs 52 lbs, and is very muscular – she looks fantastic.   China is a sweet girl that needs a home that is willing to continue to work with her to build her confidence.
