Meet Riddick!  What a handsome boy!  Riddick is a 1.5 year old White Deaf Male Boxer That is just full of wiggles and kisses!   Riddick is coming into the program with his sister Kiera.  Out of the two, Riddick is pretty much the "whatever" dog out of the two, very easy going.   Riddick does well with other dogs and he currently lives with children and is great with the kids and loves everyone.     Riddick has to be crated when home alone as he likes to chew shoes, clothes and anything paper.   Riddick is a big boy, weighing in at approximately 80 lbs., but its 80 lbs. of wiggles and kisses!

Riddick does have a tendency to Bark once loud and run towards people when greeting them, so it can seem as though he is charging you, but he is not.   He will need work on how to greet people with some manners. The only basic command he knows is sit, so he will need some obedience training.  Riddick loves to go for walks and does great walking on leash  (for simple signs for a deaf dog, please follow this link: Deaf Dogs.

Because Riddick is deaf, he would benefit from a canine companion and a fully fenced in yard.  To learn more about deaf dogs, please follow this link: Deaf Dogs.

We can't believe it's only been a little more than a week since adopting this handsome boy! He made himself at home the very first day! He and our other (5 year old female) Boxer, Roxy get along great! Riddick is very well behaved and takes direction very well. He does well with hand signals, and we are working on some new ones. We look forward to going to training classes with both of them, and to his first vet appointment later this week. We can't thank the Boxer Rescue, Kelly, Lisa and Riddick's foster family enough - for everything they have done - and continue to do for these wonderful creatures!!

Riddick continues to improve daily. He is catching on to his signs very well and his response is quicker than ever. He is still thin, but his vet is happy with his weight gain as he is gaining in all the right places. Riddick has calmed down significantly and has adapted to family life nicely. He is waiting for his forever home and would make a great addition to a single person, a couple or a family with older children.  Because Riddick is Deaf we will be looking to place him in a home with a fenced in yard and Riddick would do best with a canine companion.

Riddick is doing very well here. He is learning that there is a time for play and a time for just chilling out. He and our resident dog Jesse play well together - when Jesse wants to play. Otherwise Riddick will happily play by himself. He will share his toys, knowing he will always get them back because Jesse gets sick of playing with them quickly. He doesn't guard his food from his foster brother or us, just keeps calmly eating and ignoring whatever Jesse is doing:)

He is great in his crate for however long he is left in there. We always leave a toy or a challenging treat toy for him if we are going to be gone for a long time. It seems that whenever we return Riddick is snoozing away in his "house". He gets excited when he comes out, greeting us with boxer wiggles and a circle dance.

He is improving each day with learning sign and responding quicker. Our biggest challenge with Riddick is keeping him from giving hugs and kisses to everyone he sees. He is so happy to see any/everyone that he can hardly control himself. He tries to wait, but just can't contain his exuberance. He definitely needs more work in that area:)

Riddick is learning how to live in a home as part of a family and is looking forward to finding a forever family of his own!

 Thank you for your support!
