Sasha took no time at all to make our house her home. A home to her includes people, love and that is simply it. She has all the delightful personality traits of a Boxer. She's inquisitive, curious, eager to please and ready to crawl into your lap. Sasha absolutely loves all people of all shapes and sizes, no hesitation in approaching anyone and she has met plenty of strangers in our pet supply store. She walked around to each of our employees during our Monday morning meeting demanding love from each of them. Sasha also gets along famously with other dogs. She waits for them to approach her, gives a hello sniff and is ready to coexist. She does not play with other dogs like other Boxers do but she loves to be with and lay next to our Tank, a senior male Boxer we have in the home. She enjoys him licking her face and snuggling up to but her real M.O. in life is PEOPLE! Sasha does have some mild separation anxiety and it really is just crying when in the crate. On days that she goes to playgroups with other dogs or on various walks for a couple of hours, when crated her crying is far less than on days she is not exercised for long. We have no tried her out of the crate yet as she is recovering from an eye ulcer and we don't want her to hurt herself by rubbing her eye on anything in our home when we are not there. She came to us with the ulcer so we took her to the vet to get it checked and even with a strange man poking and prodding her she maintained her amazing sweet personality.  She does ok with cats, our resident cat is not normally shy of dogs but Sasha was a little over zealous in her inquisitions and did try to chase which was easily discouraged. Again, she wants nothing but to please people. She has met the cat face to face and does not take it any further than ears up and interest but we have not left them unattended. All in all Sasha is a sweetie, she's 6 years young and would love a house full of people, adults, kids, elderly she would not mind one bit. Dogs are welcomed as a comfort but people are this girl's favorite.

Sasha arrived at her foster home today and she is having a blast running around checking out the house. She and my resident boy, Tank act like they have known each other for years. She is a little pre-occupied with the cat. We let her check her out and she went to stiff, so we pulled her back and decided to try later. We did have to give her a bath, as the poor thing was sprayed by a skunk prior to arriving.  She was a delight during the bath, could not have cared.  Stay tuned for more Sasha. Thus far with people she is an absolute LOVEBUG!

Meet Sasha!   Sasha is a beautiful brindle girl that is coming into the program as her previous owner recently passed away.   We are unsure of her real age, but the vet estimates her to be around 6 years old.    We have been told that Sasha is a wonderful dog although she’s had no formal training.  She doesn’t jump on people and she listens well.

Sasha lived at her previous home with a baby, a 3 year old and a 6 year old and is wonderful around all kids of all ages.    She also lived with a male Boxer and gets along great with every dog she meets.    She’s very friendly to all people and is an overall sweetheart.  Sasha is currently living with a relative and they report that she is very clingy, but that is no surprise, as she has been uprooted from her home and her family.

Sasha is also experiencing some separation anxiety.  She has never been crate trained, so her new home will need to work with her on this along with formal obedience training.   When recently put into the crate, Sasha tried to get out and she drooled and destroyed the crate.  Sasha does not counter surf and has shown absolutely no destructive behavior at all.

Sasha will need a home where someone is home more often than not.  She is use to living with another dog, so a canine companion would be great for Sasha.

Please check back soon for updates as we secure a foster home and get to know this beautiful girl a little better.

We've learned quite a bit more about Sasha as our weeks have been graced with her presence. To start, we have learned that she does play! We knew she was a super lovebug but wondered if she has ever really played or knew how to. Sasha adores my husband and loves chasing him around the yard or playing with him on the dog bed in the living room. Sasha has also starting playing with our resident puppy who has done nothing short of pester her, to which she turns her head and walks away or sighs and snuggles with the chewing menace. Just recently she has given in to his incessant play tactics and we captured some video of her playing so well with the little monster. Sasha has shown no interest in toys, just warm bodies. She continues to love love, appreciates a massage and other dogs as snuggle buddies. She has followed commands that we didn't know she knew such as "out" for leaving a room, "get down" for when she comes up stairs or onto our bed without being asked or just "come" her recall around the house and yard are superb. Switching gears onto our cat, I would suggest a house without one. It must be noted this is in no way because of any aggression as this little lover hasn't shown the capacity for a mean bone. It is because she is is obsessed with our resident cat Kit. To the point where our cat doesn't even bother coming up and hanging out with us anymore. Sasha's major problem is chasing her. We have let the chase (on leash) go to the end to see what Sasha's motive is and once the chase is over, Sasha just stares. She means no harm to Kit but has a tough time getting over the other species coexisting in our house. I'm sure over more time this will get better but for someone to truly enjoy Sasha and all her greatness, a cat-free household would be better.
