Yes, I am a “Foster Flunkie”.  This awesome girl has found her forever home after three weeks of foster care.  She won our hearts over quickly, became part of our family, and I just didn’t want to say goodbye to her someday.    We renamed her Lilly as it seemed to suit her better.  At first she was a little reserved and acted like a perfect guest in our home, but it didn’t take her too long to get acclimated in true Boxer fashion.  When she’s not giving us tons of kisses, she plays with her toys and our other dog, a Bichon, and runs around the house and back yard.  Then she’ll take a nice long nap and start all over again.  Bottom line “we just love her” and I’m sure the feeling is mutual.

“Eat, Play, Love” – perfectly describes Jenga.  She has been with us now for a week and a half.  She’s such a friendly girl – seems to love everyone.  She demonstrates that by licking everyone she comes in contact with.  Everyone is her friend – so she certainly would not be a good watchdog.  She also gets along well with other dogs.  We have a 15 year old male Bichon in the home and they seem to have bonded.  We don’t exactly know how old this girl is though.  Various guesses seem to be from 7 to 9 years old.   She came to us quite thin and we’re working on putting a little meat on her bones.  I get the impression that no one ever bothered to teach her the ropes from potty training to basic commands, but we keep working on it daily and I know she’ll come through . . . eventually.  AFTER ALL SHE’S A BOXER!   We’ve been taking her in the car to do our errands every day to get her use to it.  The first 2 or 3 times she was afraid to get in – now she jumps right in and looks forward to the ride.  She’ll wait patiently in the car with my husband while I run briefly into a store.  She’s a good walker also – doesn’t pull at all on a leash.  She absolutely does not like or is afraid of a crate, perhaps because she associates it with being in a shelter.  I do confine her to a room when I must go out without her, and so far this has worked out well.  Unfortunately she does have a permanent condition of “dry eye” (Keratoconjunctivitis sicca ) and must receive antibiotic drops every day and also an eye lubricant 2 or 3 times during the day for the rest of her life.  Cleansing her eyes of occasional mucous is also a must. Doesn’t like it much but she’s a real trooper!

Jenga arrived at her foster home and she is just a LOVE BUG!    She is full of wiggles and kisses and seems to be very affectionate.  We have had no issues with her and our resident male dog so far, they seem to be getting along just fine.  She doesn't seem to know any basic commands, so we are working with her on sit right now.   She was given a ball at the time of drop off and she just LOVES it,  almost like she had never had a toy before.  She is very thin so we will be working on putting some weight on this sweet thing.   She doesn't seem to know the name "Jenga" as the shelter named her that when she came in, so we will be calling out names over  the next few weeks to see what fits her and what she might respond to.  Please back for updates as she settles in and we get to know her better.

Meet  Jenga!  Jenga was pick up as a stray and is currently being cared for by a shelter. Their vet   believes she is around 8 or 9 years old.  They Shelter contacted us to see if we could help,  as a shelter is no place for an older dog, especially a boxer that is so social and wants to be with people.  Jenga appears to be an absolute sweetheart and seems to love everyone she meets.

Jenga seems to have "dry eye",  so she has been given drops twice a day, which she will most likely need the rest of her life.    Please check back soon for updates as we secure a foster home for this Beautiful Lady!
