Manix

November 14, 2012

Manix continues to do well in his foster home and is settling in nicely.  He and his foster sister are getting along wonderfully and just love to play!  We continue to work with him on  proper meet and greets and crate training, as he shows signs of separation anxiety when he is in the crate and car.    Manixs front leg was looked at and we have set him up with a specialist at Tuffs to perform x-rays and make a determination on the cause of his injury and if there is a surgery that will be able to help him.  He gets along just fine, but does seem to be in some discomfort.   Check back soon as we continue to get to know this handsome boy!

Manix arrived at his foster home and is settling in nicely.  He is a little unsure with initial meetings with some people, but once he meets you, he seems to be fine.  As he settles in, we will be working with him more on  proper meet and greets (socialization).   We discovered Manix’s front leg needs to be looked at.  We are unsure if he was born with a club foot/leg or if he had an accident when he was younger , as there are scars on his front leg.  His front leg/knee joint  seem to be fused together, making his leg straight.   We will be making an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for a consultation on his leg over the next few weeks.   All and all his is a very sweet boy and is getting along nicely with his new foster sister.  Check back soon as we get to know this handsome boy in his foster home.

Meet Manix, a 3 year old male that is being surrendered to rescue as he needs training and his current owners do not have the time to work with him on this.  Manix is a bit anxious and can sometimes be reactive when meeting other dogs and people.  He has not bitten anyone and he doesn’t lunge at people or dogs in an aggressive way, he just gets anxious.    Manix lives with a female Boxer and gets along with her nicely.  Manix is very food motivated which will be helpful with his training.  Manix will need to go to a training class that uses positive training methods.  He knows some basic commands.    He is also living with a 7 year old child and does well around her however because we don’t know him that well, we’ll be looking to place him in a home with older children (12+).   Also, he has no history with cats so we’ll want to place him in a home without cats.

Manix is crate trained and pulls when he walks as he is currently not walked much at all.   The current owners have not socialized Manix much because of his “reactiveness”.   We’ll need a strong leader that is dog savvy to take Manix in and help him, through positive methods, to become a better mannered Boxer.  Overall, Manix is a sweet, loveable boy that just needs a home that is willing to make the commitment and work with him.
