Meet Logan. This handsome boy is coming into rescue from a local shelter. This boy has had a very “ruff’ start. He is 2 year’s old and was living in a homeless situation with his owner. He was underweight, under socialized and living in the back of a U-Haul vehicle for containment. The shelter has put a few pounds on him since he has been turned over. Logan is a good boy and super friendly. Unfortunately Logan has some resource guarding when it comes to his treats so he’s going to need a lot of work on that. He has no problem with taking away his toys or touching his food, but he does NOT like anyone taking his treats from him. Therefore, we are looking to place Logan in a home with a family that has the time and commitment to work with Logan on this behavior, along with basic obedience as Logan has never been worked with. He also might need help with environmental socialization, as we are not sure how much socialization he has really had. Due to Logan’s guarding behavior, we will not be placing him in a home with small children. No kids, or 16+, he needs a savvier home, one that totally understand his issue with treats and one that will commitment to taking Logan to a basic obedience class or working with a professional trainer to help him settle in. Logan does walk pretty good on a leash but is still pulling, so he’ll need help with leash walking as well. He likely has never been in a crate however he is kenneled at the shelter and doing pretty good, so his new home will need to go back to basic crate training to make this a positive environment for Logan. He is NOT neutered at this time, but The Boxer Rescue will have him neutered once we find him a foster home. If you are interested in Logan, please contact us at info@theboxerrescue.org
