Meet Reno!  This handsome hunk of love is sweeter than sugar and coming into the program as his current owners are moving and cannot take Reno with them.   Reno is 8 years old and currently living with a 3-year-old Male Chihuahua, and 5 children, ages 11 and up.   He is very protective of the Chihuahua and kids he is living with and has developed a little bit of territorial behavior in the home.  His current owners believe this behavior stems from the Chihuahua’s reaction and Reno feeds off that.  They state that he is a different dog when he is not around the Chihuahua.   He is housebroken and does fine with free roam in the home.  We feel that Reno would do best as an only dog where he doesn't feel the need to be the caretaker to a fur sibling and because he is not good with all dogs.   Reno is a big boy weighing it at 80lbs, so he is extremely strong.  He can be a little reactive when out walking, but can also be easily directed, so with the proper equipment, like a front pull harness and redirection, he will do fine.  He listens well when in a calm state, so his new family needs to be confident and alert of their surroundings to be able to work on re-directing him when he gets to excited or fixated at things out and about.    Reno needs out ASAP, so please don't let his age fool you!  Seniors are the best!  Reno would enjoy a family that is home more often than not so he can enjoy his senior year's hanging-out and getting belly rubs by his new family.  Because Reno is a big boy and could knock a child over, we will not be placing him in a home with small children, either 12+ or no children.   He has not been around cats, so not kitties for this big boy.  If you are interested in adopting Reno, please fill out an adoption application or contact us at info@theboxerrescue.org
