Meet Rufus! Our newest boy coming from Puerto Rico. Rufus is only 10 months old and was surrendered because his owner left him tied out all day. Because he was tied out most of his life and didn't get the exercise a growing dog needs, he has a very weak back legs. His foster home is slowing walking him 6 times a day, 5 minute walks and he's seeing a therapist for water therapy to help gain the muscle mass back. We will also have a vet check him out once he arrives to see if he will need continued therapy here. He Loves dogs, people and children and seems to be okay with cats. He does know a few basic cues like sit, come and stay, but his new home must be willing to attend a basic obedience class with him for bonding and socializations. Because he was tied out and had limited movement of his muscles, we feel strongly that he should not be crated for a while, until he can gain back his muscle mass, so he will need a home where someone is home more often than not. He would love a fenced in yard and perhaps a female companion to play with. If you are interested in this cutie, please fill out an adoption application on our site.
